Video Vendredi – Vlogbrothers (John Green)

I get tired of mentioning John or Hank Green from Vlogbrothers and getting a blank look…

Lexy, this video is something John Green calls Question Tuesday on his (and his brothers) vlog, and he is honestly hilarious.

Hope you enjoy, check out John Green’s books HERE (yes, he’s a published author, and his books are amazing)

Check out the Vlogbrother channel HERE

A Nerdfighter is someone who, instead of being made out of cells and organs and whatnot, is made out of pure Awesome. Nerdfighter is like Freedom Fighter, in that they fight for Nerds, and this was made up during the earlier stages of Vlogbrothers, and most people become Nerdfighters because they follow John and Hank Green.

The Yeti mentioned in the video above is John’s wife, nicknamed as such because she doesn’t want to be in the videos. Hanks wife, The Katherine

Also;

Toby Turner is Tobuscus and is also awesome, and also plays games on TobyGames. Links to each of his 3 channels (he gets paid to make videos)

‘ship’ is you like the idea of two characters together in a relationship.

Wholock = Doctor Who and Sherlock. Apparently ‘shipped’. Another example of ‘shipping’ would be Johnlock (John/Sherlock) for any Sherlock related fandom, because I think everyone believes that there’s a bromance happening there. Other examples include Iron Man/Capt. America, Kirk/Spock, Naruto/Sasuke, and the reason why I’m using male/male ‘ships’ is because any time I hear about someone shipping two characters together, it’s usually two guys.

Hope you enjoyed 🙂

INTERESTING FACT!: Hank Green, John Green’s brother, is not actually named Hank. He’s William. His family just decided to call him Hank instead of what’s on  his birth certificate. I think it’s funny 😀

Christmas Break is coming, so here’s Zombies!

It totally makes sense.

Break is coming up, therefore exams are here right now, and going by that logic, I don’t have any brains due to an influx of Zombies.

It makes sense.

It also makes sense that I watch YouTube when my mind is begging for no more brain eating.

So I watch Tobuscus.

He mentioned a song called ‘Re: Your Brains’ way back in one of his earlier videos.

So I check it out.

You should too. It’s funny as hell.

Tobuscus mentions this song because he writes from the other side… he titles it ‘re: re: Your Brains’

It’s amusing as hell, and reminds me of Lexy’s problem with crazypants at work.

She has mentioned to me a number of times that she worries that at some point crazypants will snap and come to work carrying a machete, and somehow that weapon translated to shotgun in my mind (another likely weapon for crazypants) which brought me to Zombies, which brought me back to the fact that I’m going to have to study more in a little bit.

I’m tired.

Parents, don’t bug your kids to study if they’re in university.

If you’re going to call them, call them to talk. just talk.

Not about studying.

Mom, if you read this, please take it to heart to not continuously bring it up.

Tonight, I’m going to talk to you about Christmas trees, funny things that I’ve seen, and the possibility of making a batch of cookies later today or tomorrow.

Braaaaiiins…

Also, here’s another funny video from Tobuscus, about how he finds a hamster loose in his home… he doesn’t have a hamster…

It made me laugh, and helped fend off the Zombie horde.

YOU STARTED IT!

My friends link me to unusual sites, videos, blogs, and pictures, and then I explore, and find more odd things. This blog is to point out the odd thins I find on YouTube.

Example: A friend let me listen to Kanye West’s Stronger years ago, and I looked up Daft Punk, and got hooked. The other day I found this video:

Followed by this.

Yes, watch through it, because though it’s weird, its also pretty darn cool. The 1st one is something BY Daft Punk, and the 2nd is done by Fans.

Example: Friends leave me confused about NerdFighters/VlogBrothers, and somehow end up showing me a couple videos by Tobuscus.

I find these:

Vlogbrothers (he has CDs for sale)

Tobuscus (Ubisoft has put this on their official Assassins Creed website) (also se his other videos, he’s hilarious) (Link to Harry Potter Literal HERE)

While watching Vlogbrothers, I find out about Nerdfighters, and end up clicking on a link that leads me to this:

And I end up watching a couple of their other musicals, and laugh.

Example: One of my friends tells me to check this video out, and I find that I like it, it not being in English not being an issue (I’ve listened to the music on her iPod, and much of it is in another language; German, Spanish (lol, Mexican, pfft!), japanese, Mandarin…), but it is still a weird video.

Alas! My dear friends seem to want me to spend all of my time on YouTube! My siblings do not help. Emma/Peanut suggests THIS bit of monstrosity!

Minecraft, while it at first seems like a low-quality game, is actually so friggin addicting! O_O

It seems as though the online community also has it out for me, as I am curiosity-ed into clicking this video by the artist Humon (humon comics in my Favourites)

So, online community, share with me your favourite/weird videos, and Continue to eat up my time!

You aren’t the first, and you certainly won’t be the last…

Dorkyness is not a Competition, but Something to be Shared

I like to peruse the various pictures in deviantart, and one of my faourite artists is humon (see in my favourite links, to the right>>).

One picture she did was this one HERE and I commented that “lol, think me a dork for this, but Mr. Morse looks like thge beast from Ben 10, with some extra parts :D” to which someone else replied “Which one? Most of Ben 10 is made up of beasts like this…you mean Wildmutt, the orange one? You dorky? I’m sure I’m much worse than you :)

I thought that that was a rather odd thought… What really makes one bit of dorkishness ‘worse’ (or ‘better’ in other cases) than others?

Of the things that could make me ‘dorky’ (and I say this with much pride and a smile–this is not an insult), I could include that I read fanfiction, write fanfiction, watch a lot of anime, read a lot of manga, and am a huge English fan (I particularly like Shakespearian insults). Oh, I also am a huge YouTube Nerd (NERDFIGHTERS UNITE!). And that is only naming a few things off the top of my head.

I may not be as ‘bad‘ as someone who cosplays, Though I’ve gone to FanExpo, and I may be ‘worse‘ than someone who only reads fanfiction in the fact that I also write it.

In the opposite way, I may be ‘better‘ than someone who only watches anime since I also read manga, And I may not be as ‘good‘ as someone who uses regular Shakespear quotes in day-to-day conversation.

Really, I could be either better or worse for reading and writing blogs than someone who doesn’t, or I could be better or worse than someone who vlogs.

Really, I don’t think that dorkyness is a competition, but something shared.

You share your dorkyness as you share your weirdness, you share your weirdness as you share your quirks, and you share your nerdyness  and all that’s included with friends and others and gain stronger friends for it.

During Frosh Week, when we went to the Bat Cave (an Alcove by Simard aptly named by a fellow dorky nerd :D) some guys behind me kept shouting things like “School SUCKS!” and “Down with NERDS!!!” and other such nonsense. The only reason I didn’t turn around and ask them what the hell their problem was–aside from the fact that I generally don’t go for confrontations unless I have reached a certain limit to my stupidity patience– was the knowledge that they are missing out.

They look down on writers (fanfiction writers, bloggers, and novelists and others) because they don’t like to read anything that isn’t out of a magazine, on facebook/twitter, or in a playboy magazine (cause you know they get those for the articles ;P). They’re missing out on some of the best books out there, and some of the awesomest people who write them. They are also the awesome people who writ songs that make you smile, like Weird Al Yankovic, and The Arrogant Worms.

They look down on cosplayers even as they look at the busty anime girls and think ‘thats hot’. They don’t see that there are people out there who dress up like these characters, and probably can’t imagine that some of the go so far as to tape their boobs to the side to cosplay a guy (see Leekaara on deviant art, HERE ), and GO OUT IN PUBLIC. You’re missing out dudes.

“You spend too much time on YouTube, and why should I know about this?” You’re missing out on SO many things, Tobuscus and VlogBrothers included.

You guys are missing out.

Dont be a NerdHater and hate nerds, be a NerdFighter and fight for nerds!

Also, You suck for deciding it’s ‘cool’ to yell about hating school and about how nerds suck. Even if we do suck, the ‘yaoi’ and ‘slash’ fans will tell you that at least they aren’t so stuck in the closet they won’t admit they swallow as well, as you obviously do.

Google it.

Ciao~
